Re: Article on Bill 2280 of the P.R. House of Representatives

Dear Mr. Colon:

Yesterday you called my office in regards of the above mentioned bill, which I told you that it didn’t have a chance, since last I inquired at the House of Representative. You told me that it was heading to the floor and you wanted a reaction, to which I referred you to Mr. Jose Barreras.

I placed a call to Rep. Liza Fernandez’s office and was told that there was nothing on the bill since they were still waiting for some memorials in regards to it.

Today, I was shocked by the front page of the Puerto Rico Daily Sun as well as for the article written by you in regards of HB 2280. It is obvious that you have not even read the bill, since in your article you are implying even that “assault weapons could be carried in public at any time, as if it were the Wild West again”.

It is sad that you can use the First Amendment to publish a lie in order to sell a paper.

On the other hand, those who want to exercise their Second Amendment right should be free to do so.

I would expect much more from a paper that is trying to rise from the ashes of what once was The San Juan Star. How I miss their logo with a lighthouse and the words “Let the Truth Shine”.

I hope you will take the time to read the bill and then, it would be nice of you did a follow up, showing that you were wrong in what you published today.

As always, our doors are open for responsible reporting.

Bendiciones siempre,
